Workshop Flexible Electronics & Smart Textiles

Workshop Flexible Electronics & Smart Textiles

Flexlines will be organising this session at the Advanced Engineering Conference (Antwerp). Presentations on the progression the Flexlines consortium is making in the development of the pilot line and 'one-stop-shop' for the realisation of flexible electronics prototypes.

This workshop will present three projects. The first two, Flexlines and SmartEEs, unite different players providing access to new Flexible Electronics technologies through one-stop-shop concepts in order to accelerate the design, development, and uptake of advanced applications in Flexible & Wearable Electronics. The third project, SmartX, will build a dedicated community around Smart Textiles to boost smart textile innovation and develop an end-to-end smart textile manufacturing value chain in Europe, driving promising prototypes to market faster.

Registrations aren't open yet. More information will follow soon.

Details on the 3 projects

Flexlines

Flexlines, a consortium of research and academic partners and a cluster organization, wants to develop and coordinate the individual links in the Flexible Electronics value chain: processes and infrastructure for design and production. The project’s aim is to build a state-of-the-art but stable pilot line and then set up a one-stop-shop for the realization of Flexible Electronics prototypes.

SmartEEs

The SmartEEs project works to give SMEs and midcaps access to recently developed, advanced electronic manufacturing technologies that include printed electronics (screen printing, inkjet flex printing, gravure printing, nanoimprint lithography, lift technologies and others). Within the project, seven European RTOs, three business innovation developers, and three digital technology clusters work closely together to create awareness, transfer know-how, and provide access to these new technologies. They do this through a one-stop-shop concept in order to accelerate the design, development, and uptake of advanced applications in Flexible & Wearable Electronics.

SmartX

The SmartX project unites eight clusters, two RTOs (for specific technological assistance) and three innovation support entities (for professional project initiation, implementation, and follow-up). Together, they will reach out to over 50,000 SMEs throughout Europe to build a dedicated community around Smart Textiles. The extremely large geographic range of SmartX will help boost smart textile innovation and develop an end-to-end smart textile manufacturing value chain in Europe, driving promising prototypes to market faster. The majority of applications are concentrated in four main fields: Protection & Defence, Sports & Fitness, Industrial & Technical Applications (transportation, architecture), and Medical & Healthcare.
